Belgium is experiencing an increase in bankruptcies

Flanders dominates most sectors

Job losses

Job losses in 2024, at 32,566, are up 18.3 percent from 2023 and are the third highest figure in the last 12 years. Flanders suffered the highest job losses with 19,179 cases, while Wallonia saw the highest number since 2015 with 8,573 job losses. Brussels, however, continues to see the lowest number of job losses in the last 12 years with 4,814 cases.

Industry and energy sector
