Club Brugge won 4-2 against Beerschot. Nicky Hayen had, however, largely rotated his core.
A few days before the Champions League match against Juventus (victorious over AC Milan thanks to a goal from Samuel Mbangula), Club Bruges was able to afford to turn against Beerschot.
Boys like Hugo Siquet, Jorne Spileers, Bjorn Meijer, Michal Skoras and Hugo Vetlesen took advantage of this to force their way into the starting eleven. This legitimately required a few minutes of breaking in on the lawn.
But just when the Beerschot thought it could grow in its encounter, the Club de Bruges struck via Gustaf Nilsson, who had to try twice but opened the scoring. The hardest part was done: three minutes later: Hugo Vetlesen combined magnificently with Hans Vanaken to make the break (2-0).
-The championship as a warm-up
In control, Bruges did not press the accelerator unnecessarily. It was at the end of a long slower period that the 3-0 fell, the work of Hans Vanaken (77th, 3-0). Beerschot tried to reignite the suspense by scoring two goals in the last ten minutes, but Gustaf Nilsson then gave the score its final appearance in the moneytime (4-2).
Six goals to sink your teeth into, executives spared before the Champions League, Hans Vanaken who are warming up at a slow trot with a goal and two assists, the return to a point from Genk: Club Bruges had a weekend without a false note despite the two goals conceded.
