Lando Norris has admitted he was “surprised” to see the Dutch Grand Prix being offered an F1 contract until just 2026.
It was confirmed that Zandvoort did not wish to extend further and chose to disappear from the calendar afterwards. This could be the case for other European races such as Barcelona, unless the alternation system inaugurated by the Belgian Grand Prix makes it possible to keep as many as possible.
But the Netherlands did not agree to enter this system, for fear of Max Verstappen’s departure from F1.
"I don’t know why it’s only until 2026, maybe you know more than me," it Norris.
“I love this race, even though it’s Max’s of course. We had a great weekend there in 2024. It’s always a really fun weekend for me. I would say it’s the “one of the most passionate and exciting for fans of the entire season.”
“So it’s one of the circuits that I really enjoy the most, even if all the fans are there for Max, it’s a circuit that I really enjoy. A good atmosphere. Good music, it’s is lively, it’s noisy, I like it.”
-“It’s certainly a lot higher on my list than a lot of other circuits. So I’m surprised it hasn’t been extended more, but I don’t know all the reasons why that’s happening.”
“They say they fear Max leaving, but F1 has become so big. I can understand it on one hand, but not totally.
