The Léopold Sédar Senghor stadium is almost finished, the images revealed (photos)

More than three months after the visit of Madame Khady Diène Gaye, Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture, to the construction site of the Léopold Sédar Senghor stadium, the rehabilitation work is progressing rapidly. The project, carried out in collaboration with China, is nearing completion, and delivery of the stadium is now expected in April 2025, as agreed by the construction teams.

During her visit on October 22, 2024, the minister praised the smooth progress of the work and the quality of the progress. Today, she is pleased to see that the stadium is almost ready to host international competitions. This modernization project, which is part of an ambitious program to improve Senegal’s sports infrastructure, will allow the stadium to regain its former splendor, with a structure that complies with international standards.

At the same time, the rehabilitation work on the regional stadiums of Ziguinchor, Diourbel and Kaolack, also carried out in this context, is also in the final phase. These infrastructures should be ready to host events from the start of 2025, thus offering Senegal a real network of modern stadiums. The objective is to strengthen the influence of Senegalese sport and to guarantee quality equipment on an international scale.
