Guest of the morning show “Kenkeliba” on RTS, Amara Traoré, newly appointed head of the elite department of the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF), responded to questions raised by Cheikh Tidiane Gomis, sports journalist, concerning the procedure of his appointment. He affirmed that his appointment fell within the responsibilities of the National Technical Director (DTN) and not the Executive Committee of the FSF.
“This falls within the powers of the National Technical Director. It is not a press release from the Executive Committee which must endorse it. It is the National Technical Director who appoints the coaches and he has already discussed it with the president of the federation, Augustin Senghor, who has already called me to congratulate me, so the Executive Committee will ratify it,” he said. -he clarified.
Traoré also addressed the question of the future of Senegalese football, highlighting recent successes on the African and international scene. “Senegalese football is in good shape. Today, in the history of African football, the only country which has won 5 or 6 African Cups at the same time is Senegal. We are also qualified for the reconquest of titles, even local football shows that Jaraaf de Dakar is on the verge of qualifying for the CAF Cup,” he explained.
-He stressed the need to boost support for local football, calling on authorities to provide more help to local clubs. “On the international level, things are going very well, but we have to review local football because the club presidents are tired. They have no help. This is where I call on the authorities,” he insisted.
