Westerlo surprised quite a few people on Thursday by announcing the signing of Islam Slimani. The former Anderlecht and Mechelen striker, among others, has signed up until the end of the season with the Campinois club.
This summer, the Campinois managed to sell Lucas Stassin for no less than 10 million euros. A great sale for a small club like Westerlo. And good news, this record sale could be broken in the near future.
Frigan interests Sunderland
According to Croatian media Germinajak, Sunderland are seriously considering making a move for Matija Frigan. After a somewhat disappointing 2023-2024 season (5 goals in 31 games), the 21-year-old Croatian striker has performed well this season (7 goals and 3 assists in 22 games).
Still according to this same source, Sunderland would like to loan Frigan and include a compulsory purchase option of no less than 15 million euros in the event of promotion to the Premier League. The player has already given his agreement to join the English club.
-Note that promotion to the Premier League remains entirely possible for the Black Cats. Indeed, they are currently fourth, three points behind leader Leeds United.
