Erling Haaland extends Manchester City contract and warns English defenders that they will suffer… until 2034

The number 9 of Manchester City has not finished shaking the defenses of the English football championship. In a series of short videos published Friday January 17 on his Instagram account, Erling Haaland, 24, announced that he was extending his commitment with the club until… 2034. An exceptionally long duration, which caused surprise, so that his contract was initially set to expire in 2027.

“There have been a lot of rumors lately, and I understand that sometimes you don't want me around (…). But, sorry, I'm here to stay”, laughs the person concerned in a clip where he depicts himself writing a letter to Premier League defenders.

If the Norwegian first cut his teeth in Dortmund (2020-2022), in Germany, where he reached the high level, it is in the City jersey that he has been shaking up the scorers since 2022. During his first season in the English championship, he scored 36 goals: a record.

Erling Haaland can also boast of having already won several trophies with the Skyblues, including a prestigious “Champions League-championship-cup” treble in 2023. No less brilliant with the Norwegian national team, the one we nickname “the cyborg” became the selection’s top scorer in 2024.

The signing of this contract could well brighten up Manchester City's season, in difficulty since September, with a modest 6e place in the Premier League table. Second best scorer behind the Egyptian Mohamed Salah, sparkling with Liverpool, the Norwegian has to date 16 goals in 21 matches.

Will Erling Haaland be keen to celebrate his contract extension on Wednesday January 22 at the Parc des Princes, where Manchester City faces Saint-Germain for the penultimate match of the first phase of the Champions League?
