Bankruptcy filing in sight for the operator of Matmut Atlantique, Girondins de stadium

NARRATIVE – The Société Atlantique (SBA) hoped to renegotiate the contract which binds it to the metropolis and to the club, which has lost its professional status. In view of the disagreements, it should file for bankruptcy between the end of February and the beginning of March according to our sources.

In Bordeaux, the future of the Matmut Atlantique stadium has been in limbo since the fall of the Girondins de Bordeaux football club (FCGB), which renounced its professional status on July 25 after being relegated to National 2. One month later , on August 23, Matmut renounced its contract of «we» due to the decline of the scapular club. An end of collaboration which marks the loss of an income which represented 21 million euros in ten years, or approximately 2.1 million euros per year. The Bordeaux Atlantique company (SBA), the consortium of Vinci-Fayat groups which operates the infrastructure on the basis of a public-private partnership (PPP), is not able to assume it.

Already burdened by 20.3 million euros of unforeseen debts in the contract and accumulated since the opening of the stadium, the SBA should file for bankruptcy by the end of February to the beginning of March according to our sources. A development, which would mark the end of the public-private partnership (PPP) which links it to Bordeaux-Métropole…
