“For François Bayrou, ecology is not at all the current priority”, deplores Wednesday January 15 on franceinfo the director of the NGO Greenpeace , Jean-François Julliard, the day after the Prime Minister's general policy declaration, in which ecology hardly found its place.

“We were extremely disappointed with this general policy declaration, I timed : it's a 1 minute 35 dedicated to the ecological transition, while we have just had confirmation that the year 2024 will be the hottest ever recorded”, explains Jean-François Julliard. According to him, “It’s really extremely problematic, even irresponsible, to have such poor discourse on environmental issues when emergencies keep catching up with us in real life.”

In the Assembly, the Prime Minister came to the defense of farmers, “who were certain of being the best defenders of nature” but today they accuse him of “harm”, calling into question the work of inspectors from the Biodiversity Office. “To hear this from the mouth of a Prime Minister today is extremely worrying”judges the director of the NGO, insisting on the fact that “ecology is not the problem of agriculture”.

For Jean-François Julliard, François Bayrou “relays the speech of the two majority unions today on agricultural issues – the FNSEA and Rural Coordination”. According to him, “we can have a debate on the implementation of a certain number of standards which pose problems for farmers” more “to suggest that by simplifying or canceling a certain number of these standards, that it will solve the problems of farmers is a very strong lie”. “Farmers have many other problems, many other worries, to make a decent living from their profession than environmental standards,” he summarizes.
