The Central African Football Federation (FCF) denounced, Tuesday January 14, the decision “unilateral” of the Minister of Sports to appoint, the day before, the Cameroonian Rigobert Song as coach of the Central African team. “The FCF learned with dismay and surprise, through social networks, of the decree […] appointing the coaches of the national A team »the organization is indignant in a press release, which assures that it has not been “associated nor consulted in making this decision”. The FCF recalls that the appointments of management members are “rights and skills reserved only for the executive committees of federations”.

Former coach of the Indomitable Lions, Rigobert Song, 48, was appointed “select manager” of the Central African team, Monday, by a decree signed by the Minister of Sports, Héritier Doneng Wazoumon. He succeeds Raoul Savoy, dismissed in October and whose interim role has since been taken over by Eloge Enza Yamissi, former captain of the Fauves. Cameroon coach since the start of 2022, his contract was not renewed after a disappointing African Cup of Nations (CAN), in January 2024 in Ivory Coast, where the Indomitable Lions were eliminated in the round of 16 by Nigeria.
