A highly anticipated 50th edition. The Panini album version 2024-2025 of 104 pages includes a total of 530 stickers to collect, including 170 special ones. Some highlight the most emblematic players, the most prolific scorers or even emerging talents. In the album we find both the squads of the 18 Ligue 1 teams for the 2024-2025 season and pages dedicated to the last decades of D1 then L1.
On the occasion of this anniversary collection, Panini wanted to pay homage to the history of the French Championship by reissuing the old stickers of 20 legends who marked the history of D1 then Ligue 1. Each decade, from 1975 to 2024, is celebrated with a double page dedicated to him. We find there in particular the Ballon d’Or and 1998 world champion Zinédine Zidane, the former top scorer in the history of PSG Pedro Miguel Pauleta, the 2018 world champion Robert Pirès or even the goleador of OM, the OL and Monaco Sonny Anderson.
Five elite legends of the French Championship were highlighted Monday evening during the presentation of this new collection. “I made my parents spend a lot of money,” smiles Robert Pirès. The Panini album is a moment of sharing. At school we exchanged, we negotiated… The player I absolutely wanted was Alain Giresse, an exceptional player that I saw in the French team. He wasn’t very tall but so good with the ball. »
“We love it! Being represented in an album bought by a lot of collectors is very pleasing, confides Frédéric Piquionne, the former international striker for Saint-Étienne and Monaco. I started collecting in 1986. My first album was from the 1986 World Cup. It was great! »
Former PSG top scorer (109 goals) Pedro Miguel Pauleta, who tormented L1 defenses in the 2000s, looked back with pleasure at his vignettes in the jersey of Bordeaux and then PSG. “When I arrived in France, my son was collecting, it was a great memory. Sometimes the album was not complete but there was always my sticker, remembers the Portuguese. It’s a pride to see his photo. The message is that it can happen to you too. »
Beside him, Sonny Anderson was also opening the memory box. “When our club announced to us that the Panini photographer was coming, we went to get our hair cut at the hairdresser and we wore our best smile at the time of the photo. It was the back-to-school photo!, says the former OM, Monaco and OL striker. I stopped my career in 2005 but even today people show me Panini stickers from the time when I played for OM or Monaco. There are always collectors who come when we play a charity match to ask us to sign a sticker. This shows that we were not only present on the ground but also in their homes. »
