SIG will face Lyon-Villeurbanne in the quarter-final

Between the leader Cholet and the three French representatives in the Euroleague (Monaco, Paris and Lyon-Villeurbanne), the SIG had the assurance of challenging a big name, in the quarter-final of the Leaders Cup. Eighth in the Elite and placed in the second hat, the Strasbourg club will finally face Asvel – crowned champion of France on… 21 occasions – in accordance with the draw carried out this Tuesday at the Caen Town Hall.

For the record, they are Stephen Brun – the double French champion with Nancy (2011) and Nanterre (2013), originally from Caen – but also two players from USO Mondeville (women’s Ligue 2), Eve Wembanyama (the sister by Victor) and Joelly Belleka, who had the honor of drawing the little red and white balls.

Note that the SIG had beaten Lyon-Villeurbanne on 1^is last December at Rhenus (77-75) in the championship. It is therefore not impossible that the people of Rhône have a little feeling of revenge at the time of reunion. In the event of victory, Laurent Vila’s men will meet the winner of the Monaco – Bourg-en-Bresse match in the semi-final.
