A man in his forties managed to embezzle 82,000 euros from the National Rugby League by replacing a supplier’s RIB with his own. The individual in question is a former NRL accountant.
It took the LNR more than a year to discover who the man was who stole 82,000 euros. Our colleagues of Parisian revealed that a 42-year-old individual had been summoned to the premises of the judicial police, in Paris, Porte de Clichy, on January 7. He was then taken into custody. Suspected of having embezzled a large sum of money from the National Rugby League, his former employer, this accountant allegedly confessed during his hearing. Having spent several months with the LNR in 2023, before being dismissed, the latter had used his knowledge to swap the RIB of the company which is responsible for the sound system during sporting or festive events and his own.
The man swapped the bank details
Thus, when the LNR wanted to pay its service provider, the money was paid into the accountant’s account. The League filed a complaint on December 7, 2023 with the Paris prosecutor’s office for fraud and fraudulent access to an automated data system. The man was released the evening of his custody with a summons to appear in court. He will be summoned to court in several weeks.
