1st round – The French’s day: Mannarino eliminated and expelled from the Top 100

Adrian Mannarino will not repeat his crazy run from last year at the Australian Open. 8th finalist in 2024, the Frenchman was eliminated from the start this Tuesday by a serious and generally superior Karen Khachanov. The Russian, seeded number 19, won in three sets and 2 hours 20 minutes of play (7-6, 6-3, 6-3). Everything came together in the first set between the two men. Better off, the French left-hander led 4-1 before finally being caught. In the tie-break, the Russian tightened the game and won the bet. The rest was much less exciting with a first ball broken down for “Manna” and a much more impactful Russian (31 winning points).

Despite everything, this defeat does not really seem like a surprise. Last year, at the end of his super Australian Open, Mannarino had a very delicate season (15 victories, 31 defeats), marked by a clear decline in the ranking (from 17th place in the world to 73rd at the start of 2025). This exit from the road in the first round marks his exclusion from the Top 100 (105th). At 36 years old.
