Bayern Munich started the second half of the season well with a 0-1 victory at Borussia Mönchengladbach. After the match, Joshua Kimmich brought good news to his coach Vincent Kompany.
The German midfielder, who has been a pillar of Bayern for almost nine years, has indeed hinted at a contract extension, despite previous rumors of departure.
Kimmich has been linked in recent months with big clubs like Manchester City and FC Barcelona, where he could reunite with former coaches such as Pep Guardiola and Hansi Flick.
His current contract will expire at the end of this season, which made a transfer this summer financially attractive for Bayern. But now the Germany international appears to be heading in a different direction. “The likelihood of me extending is much greater than last summer,” Kimmich told Sky Sports. “The sporting aspect is decisive, and it is my priority.”
A key element of its possible extension is therefore the role of Vincent Kompany. Since Kompany took the reins, he seems to have breathed a breath of fresh air into the team. Kimmich is impressed by the way the former Red Devil has conveyed his vision of the game and made it known.
