Defeated this Sunday at Belvès, Cahors was unable to materialize its highlights and must return to victory on Saturday at Desprats.
The Cadurcians begin the year 2025 with a defeat with a score of 17 to 12. An improved defeat without major consequences in the ranking but which punishes a meeting that was not completely controlled.
A resumption match, in short, with a first period mainly spent defending and a second more offensive during which they dominated a lot but achieved little. With a little too much indiscipline, the copy did not appeal to the staff who expect something else from their players from Saturday at Desprats against Clermont-Cournon.
Thibaut Girbes (third row): “Against a good Belvès team we wanted to start the year with good winning momentum but we have to be content with the bonus. In the first half we had difficulty getting out of our camp. Then it could have gone our way but we weren’t realistic enough during our highlights. We will now turn to these two important receptions that await us.”
Vincent Debaye (co-trainer): “We knew we were expected and Belvès managed to give us problems, notably thanks to a great conquest. We were penalized too much and we weren’t able to capitalize on our highlights. We lacked control and we must get back to work and correct this lack of realism which is becoming recurring.”
Didier Valade (president): “It’s a disappointment because we weren’t effective enough in the scoring areas. This defeat does not call anything into question but we must get back on the path to victory because we have two important receptions coming up.”
The Espoir team narrowly lost in stoppage time with a score of 20 to 19. Like team 1, they took a significant bonus point and are provisionally ranked in fourth place.
A disappointment for Florian Fage, the co-coach: “We are disappointed because there was room for another result, but at 14 against 15 it was too complicated. We lacked realism in our highlights. We must continue to work because we are going to receive, in quick succession, the first two of the group. Two big meetings not to be missed.”
