Caussade: the SACB senior 1 teams as real leaders

the essential
In Caussade (Tarn-et-Garonne), the senior boys 1 of the SACB received, in a leadership position, their runner-up from Lavaur, Saturday evening January 11, 2025, at the René-Barguès gymnasium.

This resumption match, displaying a duel at the top with the reception of the runner-up of the group, Lavaur, already represented a turning point in the season. Two determined teams with players ready to fight in an atmosphere that smelled of sulfur, this predicted a good level but tense meeting.

From the start, the Caussadais basketball players took the lead, before a return of the visitors, determined to show that they had not come as victims on Caussadais soil, hoping to cast doubt on the undefeated leader. In the second act, however, the Caussadais took the match into their own hands and gained the upper hand over an opponent who was certainly valiant but who showed his limits. However, the domination of the locals was not always to the taste of the Tarnais who toughened up the game, without however destabilizing a well-established Caussadais collective. Halftime was reached with an advantage of twelve points (53 to 41) for Caussade.

Upon returning from the locker room, this domination increased, thanks in particular to very aggressive individual defense and an extraordinary success rate behind the arc: thirteen successes from five players. At the start of the last act, with twenty-five points in advance and a match interrupted by the numerous whistles justified (57 fouls whistled and four players taken off for 5 fouls), the match was losing intensity. The good management of the last possessions allowed Hugo Rabot’s troops to collect their tenth consecutive victory with a score of 98 to 87, to maintain their invincibility and put the second at three victories.

Senior boys 2 struggling

Marc Delmas’ squad traveled to one of the leaders of the group, Vacquiers/Bouloc Basket 1, with still an incomplete squad following injuries and loans to team 1. However, the Caussadais had a good first half -time, competing with great determination against a more upscale opponent. A great success beyond the arc even made it possible to stay in contact.

However, upon returning from the locker room, the situation became catastrophic for the Caussadais with a defense lacking, rebounding struggling and efficiency at half mast. This defeat by 85 to 55 puts an end to a good series, but the reception of the Saint-Orens team should allow them to recover to stay at the top of the table.
