more than 100 defective medals returned by disgruntled athletes

THE SPORT SCAN – According to the daily La Lettre, around a hundred medals from the Olympic Games, whose appearance quickly deteriorated, were returned by athletes.

The precious sesame for which they have put in a mountain of effort is already unrecognizable. According to the daily The Letter more than a hundred medals won at the 2024 Olympic Games have been returned to the COJOP (Organizing Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games). In question? Their condition, which no longer has anything to do with the day of return to the podium. On August 9, a few days after winning bronze with the French relay in the 4×100 meter medley, Maxime Grousset spoke about it on the Twitch platform: “It looks like it’s smashed, oxidized a little.”

The Letter explains that the Monnaie de Paris is facing a problem with defective varnish “for at least fifteen months, well before the start of the Olympics”. Three directors of the monetary institution left their jobs at the end of 2024. The IOC (International Olympic Committee) assures that the medals will be replaced.

Other French swimmers, like Clément Secchi and Yohann Ndoye-Brouard, recently posted photos of their bronze medals. “Crocodile skin”Secchi quipped. «Paris 1924»captioned Ndoye-Brouard, joking about the age of his medal.
