Vendée Globe: Dalin or Richomme, how much does the winner of the race and the second earn?

After more than two months at sea, Charlie Dalin is not far from getting his hands on the loot. The skipper of Macif Santé Prévoyance is still leading the way in the Vendée Globe ahead of Yoann Richomme and he has a good chance of pocketing the jackpot.

All the skippers who have completed this 10th edition of the Vendée Globe will share a total prize pool of 800,000 euros. An amount identical to that of the previous edition, in 2020-2021. Of course, the winner gets a bigger piece of the pie. A quarter of the overall allocation is reserved for it, or 200,000 euros.

The podium is shared 440,000 euros

The rest of the podium also receives nice sums, with a check for 140,000 euros for the second and 100,000 for the third. From fourth to tenth place, the skippers receive the following sums: 80,000 euros, 50,000 euros, 40,000 euros, 30,000 euros, 25,000 euros, 20,000 euros and 15,000 euros.

Participants who finish beyond tenth place share the rest of the envelope, i.e. 100,000 euros. However, depending on the number of arrivals, the amount received by each person cannot exceed 15,000 euros, or the tenth share on arrival. In the event of a remainder, it is distributed equally between all skippers classified from fourth place.

In the same way, if ever only ten skippers or less reached the finish, which will not be the case this year when there are 35 sailors remaining in the race, then the remainder of the undistributed sums would be shared equally among all classified them.
