Some 70 people attended the general meeting of Smoc (municipal omnisport and cultural society) on Thursday evening in the village hall.
The 2023-2024 season will have been notably marked by the celebration of the association’s fiftieth anniversary. A half-century which was an opportunity “to look towards the future and initiate a profound change”, as Joris Alcourt, president for one year, underlined. With around 4,800 members, Smoc has recorded a gradual increase since the Covid period, of around 21% in the number of licensees in 25 sports sections.
Modification of the statutes
Unfortunately, last season also saw the departure of memorable volunteers and leaders to whom special tribute was paid, such as Geneviève Morel, president of Smoc from 2017 to 2024; François Gendre and, most recently, Jean-Luc Pacaud.
For his first activity report, Joris Alcourt seemed very satisfied with this rich year. “This allowed me to understand the importance of this position, fortunately accompanied by the members of the office,” he underlined, thanking them. And, in addition to day-to-day management, the office worked on various subjects, including a proposal to modify the statutes. “This will allow better representation of sections and associations during general assemblies and will avoid the quorum defects that we have experienced in recent years. »
In the presence of Véronique Bury Dagot, assistant for sports and community life, and Christophe Sizaret, delegated advisor for sports, and in front of the section leaders, the president also announced that “the club aims to strengthen its attractiveness and to perpetuate its action within the municipality” to maintain the dynamic.
Thanks to financial support from the City, the association will accelerate its internal reorganization. Finally, it plans to invest in new tools, more modern and adapted to its needs.
