The National Hockey League (NHL) could see the largest increase in its salary cap between this season and next.
In the most recent edition of his podcast Agent Provocateurplayer agent Allen Walsh said the Bettman circuit teams could spend up to $97 million on salaries in 2025-2026.
This would be an increase in the salary cap of $9 million, since it is set at $88 million this season.

-Since the salary cap was introduced in the NHL in 2005-06, the largest increase occurred between the 2007-08 and 2008-09 campaigns. It went from $50.3 million to $56.7 million, which represents an increase of $6.4 million.
The NHL has not confirmed Walsh’s claim. Commissioner Gary Bettman has regularly suggested the salary cap would only increase by $4 million or $5 million next campaign.
