Rally-Raid world champion Ross Branch withdraws from the Dakar.

Ross Branch ended his participation in the 2025 Dakar Rally during the 6th stage, which took place yesterday. The reigning World Rally Raid Champion (W2RC) was forced to retire following an accident.

The incident occurred at kilometer 48 of the stage. Branch received immediate medical attention and was transported to hospital, where a CT scan confirmed he had not suffered significant injuries.

Although he was released and rejoined the Hero MotoSports team later that evening, Branch was unable to continue in the rally as he did not finish the stage. At the time of his withdrawal, he was in contention for the podium, having started the stage in fourth place overall.

The team now finds itself with only José Ignacio Cornejo competing. The Chilean rider finished sixth in Sunday’s stage 7 and currently sits eighth in the overall standings.
