Back at the Australian Open, Belinda Bencic ‘feels like a normal mom’ and a player who ‘progresses every day’

In the stands of Melbourne Park, Belinda Bencic is affable and smiling, as always. However, it is a whole world that the Saint-Galloise has rediscovered since the end of October after a year of break due to maternity. Mother of little Bella since April 23, the 2021 Tokyo Olympic champion is making her comeback at the Australian Open. His two months of preparation, first in secondary tournaments and in the Billie Jean King Cup in Bienne with the Swiss team, and more recently in the United Cup and the Adelaide tournament, for a total of 11 victories in 16 matches were very encouraging. Before facing the Latvian Jelena Ostapenko (seeded n°16) in the first round, on the night of Sunday to Monday, the 27-year-old spoke about her way of approaching her new life.
