Ronald Araujo interests Juventus. However, his offer was rejected by FC Barcelona.
The Uruguayan defender Ronald Araujopillar of the defense of FC Barcelonacould leave the club earlier than expected. Under contract with the Blaugrana until 2026, the player is attracting the interest of the Juventus. The transalpine club recently submitted an offer to secure his services.
An initial offer deemed insufficient
According to information reported by Mark, Juventus reportedly offered 35 million euros to acquire Araujo. An offer immediately rejected by FC Barcelona. The Catalans estimate this amount well below the real value of their central defender. The Catalan club is in financial difficulties but still committed to maximizing its sales. He values Araujo at a minimum of 70 million euros.
This financial disagreement comes as the Uruguayan has become a centerpiece of the Barcelona squad. However, the player’s recent injuries have caused his market value to drop.
Repeated interest from big clubs
Interest in Ronald Araujo is not new. Last year, Bayern Munich would have been ready to pay up to 100 million euros to recruit him. However, Barcelona preferred to keep their defender at the time. Today, the situation seems to have changed, in particular due to the economic constraints imposed by the “1:1 rule”, which requires the club to balance its expenses and income to remain compliant with financial regulations.
Juventus in waiting position
For his part, Juventus seem ready to increase their initial offer and could offer up to 50 million euros. Although this sum remains below Barça’s expectations, it could constitute a basis for negotiations. Turin coach Thiago Motta would have personally requested the arrival of Araujo to strengthen an aging defense lacking stability.
