Brabec wins the 6th stage ahead of Frenchman Van Beveren

The American won the 6th stage of the rally in Saudi Arabia on Saturday while one of the favorites, the Botswanan Ross Branch, was forced to retire following a fall.

The American Ricky Brabec won the 6th stage of the Dakar 2025 rally in Saudi Arabia on Saturday in front of the Frenchman Adrien Van Beveren, while one of the favorites, the Botswanan Ross Branch, was forced to abandon following ‘a fall. On his Honda, the winner of the last Dakar completed the 605 km special, including an untimed transfer of 171 km, between Haïl and Al Duwadimi in 5 hours and 51 seconds. He is followed at 23 seconds by his teammate at Honda, Adrien Van Beveren, then by the Chilean José Ignacio Cornejo Florimo (Hero) at 51 seconds.

Winner of the 5th stage, Van Beveren led the way almost throughout the day, obtaining bonus points which gave him the second best time of the special. “For me, when it’s physically hard, when it’s long, that’s my thing,” he declared upon arrival at Al Duwadimi. “Today, to open at the speed that I opened, with the pace that I launched, it was a big challenge and a big accomplishment for me,” he added.

The stage therefore saw the abandonment of one of the favorites in the category, the Botswanan Ross Branch. W2RC world champion and 4th in the general classification, he was evacuated by medical helicopter after a fall at km 48. Double winner of the Dakar motorcycle race, Argentinian Kevin Benavides had withdrawn the day before, during the rest day . Although he has given up a little ground, the Australian Daniel Sanders (KTM) remains at the top of the provisional general classification, with 11 min 46 sec ahead of the Spaniard Tosha Shareina (Honda).
