Biathlon | The INADMISSIBLE TRIPLE for the French in the World Cup

After the victory of Amandine Mengin in the IBU Cup, and Paula Botet in the women’s sprint, French biathlon had a disastrous return to Oberhof. So for the men’s sprint, we had only one request: not to hear Marseillaise for a third time in a row. Magnifying glass.

We cut all contact with biathlon.

Located in the heart of Germany, the Oberhof event is a must for biathlon every year. In a white-hot atmosphere, we hoped that our French would be taken aback in this temple of biathlon. It was quite the opposite. In the space of a few minutes, Oberhof became the Blues’ favorite garden. From the first French starter, in the person of Émilien Claude, we understand that the planets align, but in the counter-clockwise direction of the FFL. The Frenchman slams a 10/10, unfortunately followed like his shadow by Quentin Fillon-Maillet. The Jurassian finds himself in the lead after the shot lying down and standing up. This story doesn’t sound good.

Our nose was not mistaken; QFM crossed the finish line with the best time, beating by 23 seconds the former provisional leader of the race, who is none other than Émilien Jacquelin. We therefore have two Frenchmen at the top of the general classification, while the Boe brothers send gusts into the German hill. So that you can measure the level of today’s race at Fillon-Maillet, remember that Johannes Boe finished almost a minute behind the Frenchman. ONE MINUTE. No really, there was no one to help us today.

Against all odds, there is still a biathlete who can shake up the rankings. Unfortunately for us, he is French. Without any explanation, Fabien Claude also scored a 10/10 behind the rifle, and finished second in the race, equaling his best career result in the process. Which therefore gives us a FRENCH TRIPLE in this sprint, a first since March 2020. The humiliation is total. And as if the affront was not painful enough, five French people finished in the top 10 (Emilien Claude 8th, Eric Perrot 10th). Are these the French championships or what?
