What does this victory inspire you at 38 years old?
Personally, I have been working with Gaël for 20 years and I look at the figures: 73 semi-finals, 35 finals, 13 titles. It’s monstrous. We forget that too quickly. This title is a good reminder that Gaël is one of the monuments of tennis. We can always blame him for not having won a Grand Slam, but his career is exceptional. Physically, I don’t see any difference, I don’t see it decreasing. When opponents hit him, he wins 90% of the points. Maybe it’s harder over time, in five-set matches, with efforts to recover the following day. In a format like that of an ATP 250, it is still very competitive.
