Back after a year as coach ofArkea-B&B Hotelsthe former pro runner and brother ofAnthony spoke to the microphone of Cyclism’Actu on his arrival at the Groupama-FDJ and the role that awaits him. If the former runner had to stop his career in 2020 following a heart problem (which had already stopped the career of his little brother Tanguy 18 months earlier), Jimmy Turgis nonetheless remains a lover of Cycling and shares with us his pleasure of joining the staff of the Groupama-FDJ. He will be in charge of the riders of the Conti and Junior teams and will have the mission of bringing them to the highest level.

“It’s a sport that is constantly evolving…”
Jimmy Turgis returned to our microphone on the reasons which pushed him to move fromEveryday lifewhere he had a role “of coach, that of coach“, has Groupama-FDJ where he finds a project “focused on young peoples”who”really corresponds to [ses] values“. In fact, the ex-runner appreciates being able to continue passing on his experience to the youngest, a role that he likens to that of big brother among his siblings. By his own admission “the challenge is clearly to train the young nuggets of tomorrow and that in the future we have a rider from Conti who performs at a very high level in the World Tour. It is really the challenge of the team to make each athlete progress little by little and then ensure that they perform at the highest level internationally.“. Taking as an example two riders who moved from Conti to the first team, namely Brieuc Rolland et Thibaud Gruelhe highlights the “serenity and confidence of the team” from which the young shoots of the French team benefit.
Finally asked about the differences between cycling of his time and cycling today Jimmy Turgis admits changes: “it’s a sport that is constantly evolving, it goes faster, it turns professional younger and younger” before concluding with these beautiful words: “my love of cycling remains unchanged“.
