Since the creation of the Sherbrooke Phoenix 12 years ago, Yves Bérubé has missed few matches.

This year, the trucker plans to attend 60 of the team’s 68 games, both at home and on the road. “I have been driving around in a truck to collect milk from farms for 37 years. The road doesn’t bother me too much,” he says.
Yves decided to drag other supporters into his madness. He got himself a van in which he transports a group of “crinqués”, almost all retirees, to the matches. Little advice: if you are asked to come on board, sharpen your hockey knowledge.
“We are fanatics. We analyze everything, we make our stage managers, we look at who is progressing, we follow the young people. There aren’t many moments of silence, let’s say! “, jokes Yves Bérubé.
-The passion of these Sherbrookois does not stop at the current edition of the Phoenix. In recent years, they have traveled to see former players in the American League, like Félix Robert and Joshua Roy. They even plan to drive a long way to Grand Rapids, Michigan. This time, not to see a player there. No, no: to reconnect with former coach Stéphane Julien, who plays an assistant role.
“It’s a great vacation for us,” assures Yves. There are some who like to go to the South, we are not crazy about that. We prefer our Phoenix. »
Most impressive player: “Joshua Roy. When we went to pick him up, his things weren’t going well. But he learned discipline, the right way to play. It was beautiful to see. »
Your favorite arena: “The Scotiabank Center, in Halifax. It’s really a beautiful place, it’s very lively, and the fans are very nice. »
