His lawyer, Gwyn Lewis said: “He was offered a speed awareness course, but unfortunately, as he was away from this country during the summer, he was unable to take the course” he declared in response to the president of the tribunal, Mark Hardman: “We are prepared to exercise our discretion given that Mr Maguire is out of the country and unable to attend his speeding driving course.”
