Beerschot are hoping to qualify for the Croky Cup semi-finals against Anderlecht, although Kiel’s main focus is on fighting relegation. To do this, Dirk Kuyt has already received reinforcements.
Through official channels, the club has just presented Hakim Sahabo as its first winter acquisition. This is no surprise, as it had already been announced that the 19-year-old striker would be loaned for the rest of the season. “Hakim Sahabo has just signed a half-season contract with Beerschot,” we can read.
No purchase option
“Born in 2005 in Belgium and of Rwandan origin, the midfielder has already played six international matches with the Rwandan national team,” we can read on the Antwerp club’s website.
Sahabo was trained by KRC Genk and Standard, among others, before returning to Liège after a detour through Lille. He made 18 first-team appearances there, but in recent months he no longer seemed to fit into Ivan Leko’s plans.
Before the New Year, Sahabo only played eight times for SL16 FC. According to Het Nieuwsblad and Het Laatste Nieuws, no purchase option was agreed in the transaction.
Debut against Anderlecht?
“I am very happy to have signed for Beerschot. For me, it is a great Belgian club with passionate supporters. I hope to play there again and take a new step in my development,” said the newcomer, who says he wants to do everything in his power to help maintain.
And who knows, maybe also to win the cup. Beerschot specifies that the newcomer is eligible and can be part of the team immediately. Who knows, Sahabo, who also spent time with the Mannekes as a youth player, could soon make his debut with his new employer.
