A new team is interested in Elias Pettersson

A new team seems to have invited itself into the soap opera that the Vancouver Canucks are currently experiencing.

According to journalist from The Athletic site, Rick Dhaliwal, the Columbus Blue Jackets have inquired about the price to pay to get their hands on striker Elias Pettersson.

Remember that he is apparently at the heart of a controversy with his teammate JT Miller. The two hockey players would be unable to live together in the same locker room. The Canucks would therefore seek to trade one of the two players.

Miller, however, has a no-movement clause, which is not the case for Pettersson. The Swede will, however, become master of his destiny next summer, since a no-movement clause will be activated for him on the 1stis July.

Last year, the 26-year-old center signed an eight-year contract worth a total of $92.8 million ($11.6 million annually). However, he is not a shadow of the player he once was. This season, Pettersson has hit the target 10 times and provided 18 assists for 28 points in 34 games.

The Blue Jackets have several interesting elements in their hands to make a transaction, including two first-round picks for the next draft. Also, in Pettersson, they would find a suitable replacement in terms of talent for Johnny Gaudreau, who died tragically at the end of August.
