The legal imbroglio in which the organizing committee of the Crans-Montana 2027 World Championships is immersed has not yet been resolved. Between possible appeals and future judgments on the merits, the renovation of the timing building in the arrival area at Les Barzettes and especially the construction of an underground hangar/parking lot has not finished generating ink. If the organizers have clearly fallen behind schedule due to several obstacles (change of committee, etc.) and they now find themselves in an “extremely tight schedule” on the Haut-Plateau, the concern remains measured for the FIS.
Met in Saint-Moritz, its very discreet president was reassuring, even though he had not supported the candidacy of Crans-Montana when they were awarded in 2022. Johan Eliasch thus certified that these World Championships were not in danger. “We will find a solution, I am confident.” Asked if he was 100% sure that these Worlds will take place in the Valais resort, the billionaire, owner of the Head brand, said: “We will find a solution”.
For him, the possible lack of parking for television trucks and a stadium that meets standards would not necessarily be prohibitive, even if the FIS has already made numerous concessions in relation to the initial project. “We will find a solution for the parking lot, we will find a solution for the stadium. There is always a plan B and a plan C.” Words which will reassure Valais and Swiss-Ski, now in the odor of sanctity with the international body, after the signing of an agreement on the centralized marketing of rights television until 2034.
