Formula 1 – In the fight for the podium, Sergio Perez and Carlos Sainz finished in the safety barrier
It may be big points that Red Bull will be missing in the fight with McLaren in the constructors’ standings. While he was in the fight for second place, and thus bring back big points for his team, Sergio Perez ended up in the safety barriers on the penultimate lap, after a collision with Carlos Sainz Jr, during the Azerbaijan F1 Grand Prix this Sunday.
After trying to overtake Charles Leclerc, who was second at the time, the Mexican ended up not only behind the Monegasque, but also behind Carlos Sainz, who took advantage of this little battle to take third place. But Sergio Pérez followed through with his ideas, and tried to regain his place on the podium by accelerating at the exit of the bend. Side by side, the Ferrari and the Red Bull finally collided, without it being possible to say who was really at fault.
