Victory 4 – Scepters 2 | Victory wins in front of more than 19,000 fans in Vancouver

Not without difficulty, the Victoire de Montréal defeated the Toronto Scepters 4-2 on Wednesday to regain first place in the general LPHF standings. All this, in a Rogers Arena packed with more than 19,000 fans in Vancouver.

The Montrealers delivered an up-and-down performance, dictating the pace in the first period thanks to their forecheck, but appearing at times subdued in the second and third periods. Despite everything, they had the last word.

Marie-Philip Poulin scored two goals in the victory… 15 years after scoring two goals on this same ice rink to help Canada win Olympic gold.

Mikyla Grant-Mentis, author of a goal and an assist, opened the scoring in the first five minutes of the game. After speeding past two opposing players in the neutral zone, she scored with a low shot to the side of Kristen Campbell’s blocker.

Montreal doubled, then tripled its lead in the following engagement, despite a considerable drop in pace. This same Grant-Mentis skillfully prepared Claire Dalton’s goal, the second of the match. Then, Marie-Philip Poulin, scored the third of the Victory with a one-timer… on her knees. A sequence that we should see again in the games of the week.

Toronto closed the gap once, then twice, ultimately directing 31 pucks towards Ann-Renée Desbiens. Poulin finally nailed the coffin for the Scepters by scoring into an empty net.
