La Liga’s surprised response to the re-registration of Dani Olmo and Victor with Barça

La Liga and the Spanish Federation released a statement on Wednesday shortly after learning of the requalification of Barça players Dani Olmo and Victor, by the higher council of sport. They are surprised not to have been heard.

Since Wednesday evening, Dani Olmo and Pau Victor have been authorized to play for FC Barcelona again. The Spanish Higher Council of Sport (CSD) requalified the players as a precautionary measure after their deregistration on January 1 due to non-compliance with Spanish financial fauir-play by Barça. La Liga and the Spanish Federation (RFEF), which carry these rules, reacted a little astonished to the CSD’s decision, explaining that they had not been heard.

La Liga and the Fed are preparing appeals

“La Liga has taken note of the resolution issued by the president of the Superior Sports Council, which maintains, without having heard either La Liga or the Spanish Federation, the precautionary measure requested by FC Barcelona and the players Daniel Olmo and Pau Víctor, maintaining the validity of the licenses of the said players until the appeal filed against the agreement of the Monitoring Committee of the RFEF-Liga coordination agreement is definitively resolved,” notes a press release.

In this text, La Liga and the RFEF deplore that the resolution of the sports council was “adopted without having transmitted the appeal or dealt with the objections to La Liga or the RFEF, therefore at this time the arguments put forward by the players and FC Barcelona in the call are unknown”. La Liga and the Federation also promise to study this resolution carefully “with a view to introducing appropriate remedies, without prejudice to the expression of absolute disagreement with it”.

“Regardless of the above, the agreement of the monitoring committee of the RFEF-Liga coordination agreement reflects the prior agreement of La Liga to refuse the prior visa, and of the RFEF the definitive license of the footballers Daniel Olmo and Pau Victor, as explained in the minutes itself,” the press release added.

The two authorities finally take note of the reasons which pushed the CSD to authorize Daniel Olmo and Pau Victor to play again. “The resolution refers to a series of motivations referring to the rights of athletes in their sporting career, a question that we will study when the file is sent to us,” concludes the text.
