A photo exhibition dedicated to artistic and sporting associations at the Micro-Folie de Saint-Pierre

The photographic exhibition “Insularity(S): Land of Opportunities” carried by the L’Asile Symphonique SPM association is a project which was imagined as part of the Cultural Olympiads, with the objectives of highlighting the associations which energize the island, both on a sporting and artistic level.

The common thread of this exhibition is the number 5. “Five series of photos inspired by five Olympic sporting disciplines, all captured on the archipelago with five talented photographers who share their unique vision.”

Launched by the Asile symphonique, this project funded by the Ministry of Culture aims to highlight the associations which energize the archipelago. This is how five photographers were chosen to cast their artistic eye on these sports but also on the places of Saint-Pierre and Miquelon.

“It was an opportunity to highlight the sports of the archipelago and the archipelago itself. Each photographer drew a discipline and chose a location” explains François Jungleson, amateur photographer. For her series of photos on archery, Delphine Gioani chose the Thélot pond. “The idea was for there to be a gap. I wanted to show a very open space by mixing nature and urban planning” says the young woman.

In Saint-Pierre and Miquelon, the same place is never the same. It’s truly inspiring. I never take out the same photos.

The participants in this exhibition are unanimous. For them, it is an enriching, rewarding experience and it is also according to them “a successful project” but also the opportunity to offer “other looks at places we already know”. Insularity(s): Land of opportunities, is visible until January 11 at the Micro-Folie de Saint-Pierre.
