In Crans-Montana, uncertainty remains for the 2027 Ski World Championships

Approximately 3.8 kilometers and 970 meters of elevation gain for almost two minutes of descent. At the end of February, the best skiers in the world will hurtle down the National piste in Crans-Montana. A first since 2012. And we even have to go back to 1987 to see descenders starting from the summit, at Bella Lui. Six weeks before the event, the track is already ready, assure the organizers. “The snow cover is sufficient over the entire length and width of the slope.” Enough to approach with serenity these men’s races which, this year, replace the women’s events usually taking place on the Mont-Lachaux track. “There are still unanswered questions,” Didier Défago, the general director of the Crans-Montana 2027 association, told the press. A source of tension for several months, the signing of the contract linking the resort to the International Ski Federation ( FIS), last September, did not remove all the uncertainties. President of the municipality and vice-president of the organizing committee, Nicolas Féraud added that he hoped that all the material legacies linked to these World Championships could see the light of day.
