There were ten games last night in the NHL.
The Canadian was not in action: he will face the Capitals in Washington on Friday evening.
That said, let’s see what happened in the other meetings of the evening:
1: A beautiful moment for the Huberdeau family
The Flames were in Anaheim to face the Ducks.
And the evening was special, since it was the mothers’ trip on the Flames side.
The match required overtime and it was Jonathan Huberdeau who sent everyone home, thanks to a slightly bizarre goal.
Jacob Trouba tried to clear his territory, but the puck ended up close to the goalie and Huberdeau took the opportunity to score one of the easiest goals of his career:
After the celebrations with their teammates, the Flames players made a point of greeting their mothers and Huberdeau looked at his with a big smile on his face.
The Huberdeau mother seemed to be really proud of her son, moreover:
The match was not super glorious from start to finish for the Flames, for example…
They could lose the services of Connor Zary for a while since the attacker was hit dangerously at one point during the meeting.
The images are difficult to watch (especially when you see Zary’s knee bend like this):
2: Marc-André Fleury, never change…
We’ve known for a long time that Marc-André Fleury is special… In the good sense of the word.
He has his habits in front of his net and every time he does something out of the ordinary, everyone talks about it.
It was he who allowed the Wild to come from behind last night and win 6-4 against the Blues, after replacing Filip Gustavsson in front of the net.
And Fleury can also say thank you to one of his posts, who made a big save at one point during the match.
The guard wanted to give him love:
Sequences like this will always make me smile.
And Marc-André Fleury has the gift of making people smile, whether by giving a trick to his teammates or thanking his goalkeepers.
It must never change.
3: Hellebuyck continues to make history
Have you ever been told that Connor Hellebuyck is one of the best goalies in the National League?
The Jets netminder is having quite a season and he continued his momentum last night, while the poor Predators were in Winnipeg.
Hellebuyck stopped 26 of the 28 shots aimed at him to sign his 25th victory (!) of the season and this is a record in the NHL.
For comparison, Jacob Markström and Jake Oettinger are the two goalies who follow him closely… And they both collected 20 victories in 2024-2025.
Hellebuyck is on another level: his victory yesterday also allowed him to reach the plateau of 300 career wins in the NHL.
He is the 3rd goalkeeper to accomplish the feat the fastest:
If Hellebuyck is able to keep up the pace, the Jets will definitely be ones to watch between now and the end of the campaign.
And the goalie could maybe win 50 games if he continues to be so dominant…
Note that the Jets finally won by a score of 5-2 against the Preds.
Mark Scheifele collected two assists in his team’s victory.
4: Another record for the kid
Even at 37 years old, Sidney Crosby is still one of the good players in the NHL.
He collected two assists in his club’s defeat (4-3) against the Blue Jackets, but that’s not what attracts attention.
The Penguins captain set the record for most faceoffs won in the NHL (15,183) since 1997-1998, which is since the statistic was first recorded:
It shows one thing: Crosby is good in the faceoff circle… And let’s say that it’s not new.
It’s also another accolade for a player who has won virtually everything during his career.
Difficult to ask for better, in the case you kid.
5: Sebastian Aho plays the actor
It looks like Sebastian Aho and Brandon Hagel were doing this on purpose to piss off last night on the ice in Tampa Bay.
They didn’t let go of each other for a single second… And it continued on the benches of both teams.
The problem?
Hagel completely lost his seriousness when he saw Aho trying to imitate him with a face… Quite ridiculous.
The images are really funny:
It really made me think of when Steve Ott trashed Zack Kassian, while he was playing for the Canadiens:
If we return to the match, note that it was Brayden Point who decided the fate of the two teams at the very end of the match.
He scored with a little over 50 seconds left on the clock and that was enough for the Lightning to win by a score of 3-2:
Prolongation
– A goal for Lafrenière, who had not scored in his last 14 matches:
– And he added another in the first period:
– Wow !
– Another defeat for the Rangers.
– He’s on fire.
– Snipe.
– I adore.
– Vintage.
– 100 goals in a Knights uniform for Mark Stone.
– At least the two avoided getting hurt.
– Sick.
– Great victory for the Oilers against the Bruins.
– The best scorers of the evening:
– Four games tonight in the NHL:
