Official: Racing Genk offers itself a Belgian talent long coveted by Standard and Club Bruges – The latest transfers

It’s a big move for Racing Genk at the start of January. The Limburgers offer themselves Lorenzo Youndje, talent from AS Eupen, formerly followed by Club Bruges and Standard. The full-back will first cut his teeth in the Challenger Pro League.

Last summer, after the club’s descent into the Challenger Pro League, a major clean-up was carried out in the core of AS Eupen, which let many executives leave.

With a particularly rejuvenated squad, the Pandas did not aim for a direct return to the Jupiler Pro League, but rather the establishment of a new project aimed at giving playing time to young players.

If, for example, Amadou Keita has become the hub of the team in midfield, and the locals Paeshuyse and Van Genechten are still very present, just like Jérôme Deom and a much less visible Renaud Emond, Lorenzo Youndje n On the other hand, he had no say in the matter.

Lorenzo Youndje leaves AS Eupen and joins Genk!

And that’s surprising, because the 19-year-old full-back has long been considered one of the German-speaking club’s greatest talents. He will receive the opportunity to relaunch this winter.

Long on the shelves of Club Brugge and Standard, Lorenzo Youndje finally signed for Racing Genk, who was able to convince the former Belgian U19 international, as part of a loan with an option to buy. The latter will first make his mark with Jong Genk, in the Challenger Pro League, before, perhaps, gradually integrating the A core.
