Nice crushes Angers, Reims and Le Havre win at home

The season officially launched for OGC Nice, who won 4-1 in Angers despite a numerical inferiority. Le Havre and Reims won at home against Auxerre (3-1) and Rennes (2-1) on the third day of Ligue 1.

Reims’ nice move against Rennes

Reims dispelled their doubts to throw them back on Stade Rennais, during the 3rd day of Ligue 1 this Sunday (2-1). First victory for the Champagne club this season, and second consecutive defeat for the Bretons, already beaten in Strasbourg last week (3-1). Julien Stephan’s players had nevertheless taken things from the right end with Leo Ostigard on a corner (13th, 0-1).

But it was Reims who made the game in front of their home crowd at Auguste-Delaune, and it was Steve Mandanda who kept Rennes alive at times (24th, 58th). The inevitable Junya Ito equalized with a diving header (41st, 1-1) then Oumar Diakité, just after the break, also gave the advantage in the air (48th, 2-1). Powerless at the end of the match, Rennes was unable to overturn Luka Elsner’s team, who are smiling again before the break.

Le Havre solid against Auxerre

The former promoted team from Le Havre gritted its teeth to validate its success against the current promoted team from Auxerre (3-1). It was difficult for AJA to hope for much after Ji-Jana Hoever’s red card, just before half-time (45th + 1). HAC, who had responded to Gaëtan Perrin’s nice free kick (17th, 0-1) with an own goal from Elisha Owusu (23rd, 1-1), logically took the lead with Rassoul Ndiaye (52nd, 2-1). And had many opportunities to kill the match (13 shots, 6 on target in the 2nd half). It was finally Abdoulaye Touré, on a penalty, who closed the match (90th + 8, 3-1).

Nice untouchable in Angers

Apart from a few minutes of uncertainty after the hour mark, OGC Nice did not tremble at the Raymond Kopa stadium to control the newly promoted Angevin team (1-4). Youssouf Ndayishimiye opened the scoring with a header from a corner by Jonathan Clauss (6th, 0-1). Hicham Boudaoui made the break (25th, 0-2) and put his team in the clear. The Angevin revolt was only really sounded by Moïse Bombito’s second yellow card (65th), synonymous with an exclusion and penalty for SCO, which Himad Abdelli converted (67th, 1-2).

A comeback nipped in the bud. Evann Guessand, as a fox in the box after a slowed shot from Jérémie Boga, made another break for the Aiglons (72nd, 1-3). The Ivorian striker even scored twice at the end of the match (85th, 1-4) to make the party complete. First victory for OGC Nice this season and third defeat in as many games for Angers, the only team in this case with Saint-Étienne.
