THE MORNING LIST
For this first selection of the year 2025, we offer you a sensitive crossing of the globe by sail, an invigorating and intelligent idea of poetry, a historical series on Alfred Dreyfus and an invitation to (re)discover Mozart or the grandiose temples Egyptians of Abu Simbel.
The Vendée Globe up close with Isabelle Joschke
Composer and documentarian, Aline Pénitot is the author of the remarkable series “Oublier Moby Dick” and “Le Sentiment Océanique” for France Culture. And it was by realizing the latter that she got closer to Isabelle Joschke, one of the six women to have started the Vendée Globe, on November 8, 2020. After a first season of “Isabelle Joschke, alone at sea”, a documentary series around the skipper of theImoca-MACSF and her race preparations, Aline Pénitot slipped a recorder into the navigator’s life bag.
Result: whenever she had a little time, sometimes nestled in the heart of her bunk, Isabelle Joschke kept a sort of audio diary of her race. And it was wonderful to live this experience so well put on air up close. As she set off on Sunday November 10, 2024, alongside 39 other skippers for her second race around the world, solo and non-stop, Isabelle Joschke once again offers us the opportunity to board her boat thanks to Aline Pénitot’s on-board microphone.
