Ghent is active: a JPL goalkeeper will sign

Ghent want to secure a place in Play-Offs 1 as quickly as possible. For this, the Buffalos intend to strengthen themselves this month.

The people of Ghent have already played many matches this season. After eliminating Vikingur, Silkeborg and Partizan Belgrade at the start of the season, the Buffalos were able to play six more games in the Conference League.

After being beaten by the modest club Larne FC on the last day of the group stage, Ghent was ejected from the top 8 and therefore from direct qualification for the round of 16. To achieve this, the people of Ghent will have to get rid of Betis Sevilla in a play-off. The two matches will be played on February 13 and 20.

In the championship, Ghent alternates between the good and the less good. After 20 days, the Gantois have a record of 8 wins, 6 draws and 6 defeats. And to make matters worse, they just lost Max Dean to injury. The English striker is already out until the end of the season.

Several reinforcements expected

Ghent should therefore recruit a new offensive element this winter. A new goalkeeper should also arrive. Indeed, Daniel Schmidt is about to leave Ghent to return to Japan, and more precisely to Nagoya Campus.

Tom Vandenberghe

According to The Latest NewsGhent has already targeted his replacement. This is Tom Vandenberghe (32 years old). The Kortrijk goalkeeper should even pass his medical examinations this Monday. If all goes well, he will then sign a contract for several seasons with the Ghent team.
