Currently fifteenth and penultimate in the ranking, Kortrijk is in a delicate position. A place which was already that of the Kerels last season at the end of the classic phase.
When things are not working in a club you have to make decisions and these often result in changes, with arrivals and departures. This Saturday, a departure is announced by the club. A player who arrived barely six months ago is already packing his bags.
Final departure
“Takuro Kaneko joined KVK last summer and distinguished himself with his clever dribbling. Today, Kaneko returns to Japan and signs permanently with the Urawa Red Diamonds in the J1 League,” we can read in the press release published by Kortrijk to announce the departure of the player.
Thanked for his commitment to the club, Kaneko will therefore try to give new impetus to his career after a loan to Dinamo Zagreb last season and six not really conclusive months in Kortrijk. While he was under contract until 2027, he only played two snatches of matches in the last two league matches of the year.
Return to Japan
Before that, he had missed the three previous meetings: two where he remained on the bench from start to finish and the third for which he was ill and was therefore not retained in the Kortrijk group, during the reception of Dender.
The Ogawa native will return to Japan, where he turned professional in 2019. At HC Sapporo, he spent four seasons during which he played 153 matches and scored 26 goals. During his loan to Dinamo Zagreb, he played 41 matches and scored 5 goals.
