FC Barcelona confident of registering Dani Olmo tomorrow

Barcelona are said to be confident of being able to sign Dani Olmo as well as Victor after finding a solution to their financial blockage.

La Liga rejected Barca’s request to register the duo for the second half of the season as they failed to prove they had the necessary financial guarantees in time.

Olmo, a Euro 2024 winner with Spain, only joined Barcelona from RB Leipzig last summer. However, he could only be signed on a temporary deal until the end of 2024 due to La Liga’s current financial constraints on Barcelona.

The Catalan giants had tried to re-register him as well as move Victor forward so they could play beyond December 31, but La Liga rejected their request.

Barca intend to continue their attempts to sign the duo and La Liga have reportedly been threatened with legal action by several clubs if they approve the move, according to SPORT.

Barca believe the sale of VIP boxes at their soon-to-be renovated Camp Nou will provide them with additional revenue, around 100 million euros, to be able to register the stars, reports SPORT.

Indeed, club bosses are said to be “confident” they will have the green light to register the stars and have been “working around the clock” to make it happen.

Barcelona are expected to return to action on January 4 when they face Barbastro in the Copa del Rey, and Olmo and Victor will not be eligible to play, as things stand.

The saga has significant implications for the wider European transfer market, as Olmo has become a target for Manchester United and Manchester City. He would be eligible to leave as a free agent this month if he cannot be drafted.

With three goals and two assists, he was one of the pillars of Spain’s triumph at the Euro. Since then, he has scored six goals and provided one assist for Barça this season following his departure from Leipzig.
