Thomas Heurtel's return to Barcelona? “This is an offense in capital letters for the supporters”

The announcement by the Catalan sports daily Sports World of Thomas Heurtel's return to FC Barcelona – which has not yet been confirmed at this time by the club – shocked the basketball world and obviously also those around Barça. Xavier Bosch's column is particularly scathing.

“The return of Thomas Heurtel to Barça is worse than a joke in bad taste. It is an offense in capital letters for Barcelona fans. Peñarroya's team (Editor's note: the coach) is so bad as Laporta, Cubells and Navarro turn to Palau's last great traitor to try to turn the season around,” writes Xavier Bosch. He continues:

“That Heurtel in his good years was a star is indisputable, at Barça he was also at a high level for three successful seasons. But, already with Jasikevicius, he leaves Barça in very bad shape. When Nacho Rodríguez, manager general, discovered that he was negotiating with Madrid, he did not even let him return with the team plane from Turkey (…)

The journalist recalls that Thomas Heurtel was greeted by Barça supporters with “where is the plane?” during his return to Palau in the Real jersey. “It was the best way to respond to him. Four years later, not knowing that Heurtel, even in painting, was not to return to Palau, is a demonstration of the decadence of the regime.”
