Arriving during the season at the head of a Stade Rennais team in dire straits, Jorge Sampaoli is looking to build his own team. While he no longer seems to want to count on Steve Mandanda, the Argentinian opens the door to the arrival of a new goalkeeper. In this sense, Brice Samba has been announced in recent days on the SRFC side.
Interest in the RC Lens goalkeeper is real, as Sampaoli himself confirmed. “We talked about Samba or other players, for the moment, no one has arrived”confided the Stade Rennais coach at a press conference. The arrival of Brice Samba could call into question the place of Steve Mandanda, whose contract ends next June.
“Steve's (Mandanda editor's note) problem comes from his contractual situation, with his contract ending in June. The club is trying to manage this situation, but today we are counting on him, he has given us security. If another goalkeeper arrives, the competition will be stronger”he revealed.
The recruitment of a new goalkeeper would allow Stade Rennais to strengthen its competition in goals and prepare for the future. Brice Samba, through his experience and his qualities, could bring an undeniable plus to the team.
