Here are 6 players heading towards a 100-point debut season

The better things go, the more often we can see players who reach the 100 point plateau in a season.

To give you an idea, nine players achieved this feat in 2023-24, while eleven individuals did it in 2022-23, so it’s easy to say that this is a common reality in modern hockey .

Moreover, six players are currently heading towards a first campaign of 100 points, considering their current “beat”, including a few surprises.

1 – Brandon Hagel

Aged 26, the versatile winger has constantly improved during his NHL career, producing 41 points in 34 games in 2024-2025. Obviously, his 75-point season in 82 games last year did not represent his ceiling. A former sixth-round pick of the Buffalo Sabers in 2016, no one would have believed at the time that he would become an impact player like he is today with the Tampa Bay Lightning. What a story!

2 – Mitch Marner

Although he already has three seasons of over 90 points, including one of 99 points, the Toronto Leafs forward has never had 100 points in the NHL. With 51 points, including 13 goals, in 38 games, barring a disaster, he should be able to do it this year, despite the repeated absences of his faithful sidekick, Auston Matthews.

3 – Jack Eichel

To say the least, Jack Eichel has found his niche with the Vegas Golden Knights. He became the dominant player expected of him when the Sabers called his name second overall in the 2015 draft. Having notably won the Stanley Cup in 2023, the American center has continued to impress , given his 48 points in 37 games. If he wants to reach 100 points, that being said, he will have to stay healthy.

4 – Kyle Connor

Probably the most underrated player in the NHL, in the same category as the Barkovs of this world, despite his incredible offensive production over the last few years. Aged 28, the American winger scored 51 points, including 22 goals, in 39 outings, aiming for 100 points for the first time. Note that he had accumulated 93 points in 2021-2022.

5 – Martin Necas

With the departures of Jake Guentzel, Teuvo Teravainen, Brady Skjei, Brett Pesce and Stefan Noesen, Necas has not collapsed, quite the contrary. Part of many trade rumors, the Czech ultimately decided to stay and, obviously, he did well. The 25-year-old center is having the best moments of his young career, with 45 points in 37 games, leading the club in points in Carolina. 100 points for Necas? Not impossible!

6 – Sam Reinhart

Here’s another one who benefited from leaving Buffalo! After a memorable 2023-2024 season, including 57 goals and a Stanley Cup (including the winning goal), Reinhart, second overall pick in 2014, could reach 100 points in 2024-2025. Author of 45 points, including 22 goals, in 38 games, Aleksander Barkov’s “Robin” is in line to reach the 100-point plateau, at this rate.

A lot can happen between now and the end of the current season, of course, but we risk seeing another considerable wave of players having scored 100 points in a season in the National Hockey League.

Who will be the lucky ones?
