The Nashville Predators forward intentionally tripped defenseman Jared Spurgeon from behind, a maneuver called “slew foot.”

The Wild captain left the game on one leg and could miss several games after falling heavily against the railing.

L’Heureux received a five-minute major penalty and a game misconduct.

Known for his abrasive style in junior hockey, the skater from Montreal was suspended no less than nine times during his stay in the Martimes Quebec Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). He has done so twice since making the jump to the pros in the American League last season.

However, this will be a first suspension for the 21-year-old player in the NHL.
