Thomas Chatelle names his four favorites for the title

One more day and the 2024 calendar year will be over in the Jupiler Pro League. After the short winter break, however, there are still many matches to play. Analyst Thomas Chatelle sees four teams currently standing out.

When the championship resumes at the beginning of January, there will still be ten days to go. Lots of things can still happen. But no one will be surprised if the current top six qualify for the champions play-offs.

Autumn champions KRC Genk are currently at the top of the table and will end 2024 as leader anyway. Bruges is three points away in the standings.

A big favorite

RSC Anderlecht, who lost ground on the leaders last weekend, are in third place. Antwerp are fourth again after a pleasing victory, while fifth, Ghent, also needed their victory against Standard.

Finally, Union SG rose to sixth place thanks to a strong series. The top 6 is therefore very tough, but according to Thomas Chatelle, four teams still have a head start.

“For the moment, four teams stand out in Belgium. Club Brugge, KRC Genk, Anderlecht and Union. Among these four teams, Bruges is by far the best,” Chatelle said in The Importance of Limburg.

Impressive Hayen

According to Chatelle, the fact that the Club stands out is not only due to the players. “It’s also thanks to the coach. Nicky Hayen is the coach who has brought the greatest added value to his club this season. It's impressive to see how his game plan remains on track in recent weeks. Hubert, Pocognoli and Fink are also very good coaches, but what Hayen showed in the Champions League is on another level.”
